Aug 21: Until next time

So this whole idea of blogging during my last year of high school has kid of taken a nose dive, particularly because I am doing a folio subject. Which is very draining, and takes so much time in comparison to the marks a you can get. Far too stressful.
I wanted to write a short little thing about why I haven't been here for a while, and to apologise for it because it really shouldn't be two months after my 18th birthday that I continue on with the birthday party posts that I planned (though in reality I didn't take very many photos of anything)
I will be back I promise. It will just be after the 14th of November, the date of my last exam.

Until next time

June 3: Birthday Planning Introduction

Hello again,
Ooooo look its a post that isn't on a Sunday or a week on Instagram post yay!!!
This year marks my 18th birthday, and thus birthday party and I didn't see why I shouldn't take you all along with me during all of the planning I have been doing along with school work which is why I have been absent for a bit lately (sorry)
Anyway an introduction to all of this is probably called for.
My birthday is on a Friday so it was only fitting that my party be that Friday night.
The general theme is woodland (I've always had a theme) and I've asked everyone to dress casual and warm.
From 7pm I am having family over for a pot luck dinner. I've just asked them all to bring something savoury to share just so that it takes the weight off my shoulders in terms of making sure they all eat on top of all my baking.
The rest of the non family people are coming at 8:30pm for sweets and drinks (yay!!)
I am planning on making all of the sweets myself, so I'm in for a lot of baking over the next three weeks. It's a good thing that we have now hit the dead part of the year work wise. I've planned on making cookies and cupcakes and brownies and hedgehog slice and caramel popcorn and apple turnovers. All yummy foods. (I think I am going to do recipe posts on some of them, thoughts?!?)
I've got a whole stack of decoration plans (thank you Pinterest)so that's going to be fun testing all of them out.
I also made all of the invites and thank you cards and little food tags myself to match the theme. I think they are super cute so there will be a post on them.
I think that is every thing I am doing. Here's a little sneak peak of the invitation.

Until next time,
Liana xx

PS name that book I used for the background

June 2: my week on Instagram

Hello,
A little bit of a life update like I always do on these Sunday posts (which at the moment seem to be my only posts). A number of things happened this week
a) we are now officially in June (woohoo!!) for many people that means summer (I'm looking at you northern hemisphere people) but for me that means WINTER my favourite season. That may have something to do with the rain and the gumboots and the cold, but it also has to do with me being a little bit bias because there are now 19 days until my birthday (post series coming soon) and 6 day until church camp which brings me to section
b) I am going to spend a weekend camping in a shed in the cold, playing sport, eating good food and making new friends. Some of you are probably looking at me (maybe not literally) and thinking I am mad (which I am). It's called State Youth Games, during a long weekend youth groups from around Victoria (and sometimes Tasmania) get together, camp in the mud and the rain, play sport and enjoy each others company. It sounds a bit wacky but it's a lot of fun even if like me you are not that sporty or co-ordinated
c) I've been sick this week *sad face* which means I've had a lot of honey, ginger biscuits and vitamin-c tablets.
d) I have had soooooo many essay and assessments to write and to study for this week it's getting ridiculous but that's school for you less than 6 months to go (YAY!!!)
e) I was also out for dinner TWO nights in a row (what!?!?) we hardly ever 'eat out' though it was at other peoples houses so that does that really count as eating out? it does in my eyes. We were invited to two birthday dinner: one for a family friend and one for my cousin.
Busy, busy, busy little week it was.
(Woah that's a lot of writing)

Lets get on to the pictures
1. A picture of my favourite view in the city, straight down the path from the shrine of remembrance which was taken 2 maybe 3 weeks ago when dad and I were in the city and had time to kill so we went on a walk around the botanical gardens and the shrine

2. Rainy day picture. If you look close enough you can see me in the mirror.

3. One of the workers at the local coffee shop near my doctors remembered our orders: a large chai latte for me and a large latte for dad. It made us feel so special.

4. Here's what I wore on my date with YouTube of Friday night.

5. Warm milk and ginger biscuits for a sick little me

6. Itty-bitty cupcake thanks to my mama. She's brilliant.

Until next time,
Liana xx

PS I think you should follow me on Instagram
PPS also my YouTube date was with Marie bitsandclips, she is so inspiring and wonderful and optimistic no matter what is going on in her life plus her daughter is adorable.
PPPS also (again) birthday kitten *happy dance* more on that later

May 26: My week on Instagram

Hello,
I have been a little bit absent this week, not out of my own free will but because school has sort of taken over my life for a little while. I am coming up to the end of this semester so I have a lot of essay to write and assignment to hand it and I am also in the middle of writing an English speech, and to make matter worse none of them are fun. That being said it probably won't change over the next few weeks, so hang in there, there will be posts when I can.
So without further ado I present my week on Instagram.

1. Monday night bath with a lush fizzbanger. Loved it.

2. Honey and cinnamon face mask with my sister complete with towel turban.

3. Waiting at the doctor's on Thursday night. Jeans & ankle booties.

4. Homemade pumpkin risotto

5. A late night cup of tea

6. Boots & jeans on the train to the CBD.

7. Girls night in with my sister painting nails and watching She's the Man

8. Sunday morning breakfast of cinnamon toast and coffee

Until next time

Apr 28: Stay Out

Hello,
So at the moment I am planning my 18th birthday. The most nerve racking thing about it is sending out a save the date message and actually deciding who is invited.
I now have a guest list of 40ish, some of which have their year 12 formal but are trying to come anyway, and some of which who are more likely to go to another one of their friends party. Not that I care that much, most of them I only invited because I would feel bad if I didn't but I'm not 100% sure I want them there. I hate the guilty consensus thing I have going on here, thought there isn't really much I can do about that. Oh well. I guess I will just have to live with it.

The other dilemma I have come across it choosing who's birthday to go to. I have two relatively close friends who's party is on the same night. One of them is only inviting a few people and the other has fifty plus.
I have no idea what to do and it sucks.

In the mean time I'm going to listen to this song and forget I have school tomorrow morning

Until next time,
Liana xx
P.S is it just me or are these post getting shorter.
P.P.S I'm sorry this has no content :( or pictures

Apr 25: Lest We Forget

Hey all,

Today in Australia and New Zealand it is ANZAC day. A day where we commemorate those lost in war. It marks the anniversary of the first campaign that led to major causalities.
World War I was the first war for Australian and New Zealand as independent countries.
On the 25th of April in 1915 Australian and New Zealand troops landed their ships to the shores of Gallipoli and met a strong resistance from the Ottoman Army. Their aim was to take Constantinople, the capital of the Ottoman Empire. What was originally was a bold move turned into a stalemate. The battle of Gallipoli went on for eight months and both sides lost a lot of men. At the end of 1915 the Allies were forced to evacuate.

This battle was the founding point of the 'Anzac legend'. One of the of the most well known story is of Simpson and his donkey. Simpson was a stretcher bearer at Gallipoli. when he got there he found a donkey on the beach after having previously been carrying wounded British Empire soldiers over his shoulders from the frontline to the beach. The donkey was given a red cross band the was tied around his mussel. He was often known to be singing or whistling as he traveled down the hill side. He continued transporting soldiers with the help of the donkey for about three and a half weeks often under fire before being killed by machine gun fire. There is a myth that he rescued 300 soldiers in this time though it is highly unlikely as the trip from the frontline to the beach is a long one.

With symbolic to the dawn landing in Gallipoli, a dawn stand-to or ceromony has become the most common form of ANZAC day remembrance since the mid 1920's. Nowadays families and young people are encouraged to attend dawn services. The services in Australian's capital cities generally have large turn out every year.
The dawn services now containing the following features: an introduction, hymn, prayer, an address, laying of wreaths, recitation, the playing of the Last Post, a minute of silence, Reveille, and the playing of both the New Zealand and Australian national anthems.
In Australia we wear sprigs of rosemary on our lapels and place an artificial red poppy beside names of relatives.
There is also a dawn service in Turkey every year.

They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them nor the years Condemn
At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them
LEST WE FORGET

Until Next time,
Liana xx

Apr 17: Stolen Shoes

Oh hey guys,
I am now back at school after a two and a half week Easter holiday break. Thank you Good Friday, Student Free day and Parent Teacher interviews.
Today was my first day back. I was late, like usual, it seems that the holidays have put me into a really bad sleeping pattern consisting of really late nights and not getting up until after noon.
One thing that did not help me was starting the day with maths first thing. It made me brain-dead for the rest of the day. However I did get my year 12 jumper today, a whole term after all the other schools in my area. It turned out to be a good day. I only had three periods so I got to go home at lunch, only to go home to do homework but that is fine with me. It is warm here.
I am just about to go out to a casual gathering with my friends from my youth group. A pizza and pasta night.
One guess as to what I am wearing. If you guessed my new school jumper, jeans, my brother's canvas shoes and a panda beanie you would be right. I'm feeling really lazy okay, don't judge me.

Sorry this is so short and has no pictures.
Until next time,
Liana xx

Apr 10: Teapot & Co.

Hello again,
In one of my past posts I told you that I had been to many garage sales and had bought multiple things including a teapot.

The very last sale that I went to had a whole lot of pink and white chinaware. When I got there they still had 40-45 pieces left all semi matching as they didn't have the same patterns. It took me so long to decide if I had enough room to buy anything and what I wanted to by. I ended up buying the teapot with a matching sugar bowl. I really wanted to get to salt and pepper shakers as well but they didn't match at all. After I have bought them the lady who was selling them gave me the egg cups as well because I liked everything so much and she was happy that they were going to a good home. It was such a sweet thing for her to do and I am so grateful.

The teapot is literally the most beautiful thing ever. It has some hot water damage on the inside but I love it. It is Adams English Scenery in pink.

I hope enjoyed this post.
Until next time,
Liana xx

Apr 7: 21 Days of...

Today I am pledging to you and the internet that I will do 21 days of being healthy.
Today is Day 1.

There is a myth that it takes a person 21 days to form a new habit. I don't believe that by just doing everyday for 21 days is going to make it a habit, I believe that in 21 (or more but 21 is a good number) days it will have worked it's way into your scheduled not in a ohh-I-don't-need-to-think-about-it-to-do-it-I-just-do-it-naturally way but in a it's-on-my-daily-list-of-things-to-do-today sort of way.
I have heard of multiple different ways people use this theory. Some have a bracelet that they swap from hand to hand if they break the rules they set for themselves, others have little sticky notes on a door frame that they take one off everyday they complete the tasks.

My goals for these 21 days are:
1. Eat healthy: I'm definitely not going on a diet, I don't like them. I am just striving for a balanced diet of about 80% good foods and 20% not so great food (but not crisps and soft drinks). I want to eat less carbs and more meat, fruit and veggies, and I also want to get out of the habit of eating when I am bored because that is doing nothing for me. I am also going to keep a food journal as then if I do eat something bad I feel guilty about it because I have to write it down.
2. Do 45+ minutes of exercise per day (not including walking to and from school): I have been researching different types ways to exercise so that I have a wide range of things to do because I get bored easily if I do the same thing over and over again. So I want to make it fun and I want to be happy with what I am doing and with myself.
3. Drink water: This is important because a) it keeps me hydrated and b) because when I am at home all day I never drink enough water I always forget compared to when I am at school or out I drink 3-5 600mL bottles of water every day (I barely drink 1 when at home).

There isn't really anything else to add to that apart from stay healthy.
Until next time,
Liana xx

Apr 6: Guess who's back?

Oh hey guys,
remember how in yesterdays post I was having a fight with my camera. Well that has been solved *yay* And this is the post that they were going to go with. Also I'm doing a whole separate post on the teapot and co.

~~***~~

Hello all,
I'm back, and I brought a whole lot of shopping with me. I didn't even go to anywhere that is known for having shops. I when to a relatively small beach side town that has twice as many cafes as it does other shops. Around there Easter Saturday is when every man and his dog have a garage sale. Some of them sell utter rubbish but at others you can get some pretty good finds.
I bought a lovely stack of clothes for $10

I bought two long sleeve tops. One is the size of a tent and is from cotton on and the brown one is from Luvalot. I really like that one.

I got two tops that are sheer. The dark grey one was originally from Cotton On and the light pink one from Quirky Circus. The pink one is my favourite piece of clothing I bought, I saw it and instantly fell in love.

Two striped tops both from Cotton On Body. I will probably were them as pajama tops. The white and navy one is cropped.

Three plain tank tops. The navy one is from Cotton On Body and has lace detailing. The orange and olive green are from ASOS.

And lastly for clothes this thick woolen jacket from Katies

I also bought a few of miscellaneous things.
Some wooden black and white painted chop sticks with images of bamboo on the sides.
That I got for $1.

And lucky last I got a long/short (I can change it) necklace with a gorgeous flat stone for 50c. Bargain. Plus it is so pretty and swirly

Until next time,
Liana xx

P.S. part 2 is coming soon :D

Friday 5 April 2013

Apr 5: Technology is NOT my friend

Has anyone ever been in the situation when technology just doesn't work for you? Because that is exactly what is happening to me right now.
My camera isn't being a very helpful friend at the moment and I have a number of post planned because I know next week is going to be busy as I am busy all the time an the one time I'm not my camera gets mad at me. What did I do? *sad face*
Camera: I renounce our friendship

If you read my last few posts you would know that I went away to my beach house over Easter. It's sort of a tradition to go to as many garage sales as possible on the Saturday because who doesn't like finding great things for a small price. Point being I got a number of things that I wanted to show you all, including a tea pot which I will probably keep until I die even if it breaks, it is so darn pretty and I wanted to show you but the silly camera is chucking a hissy fit.

As I'm here I might as well tell you about my day, which was fairly crazy mostly because I have had 3 hours sleep and a lack of sleep tends to mean I loose the filter between my brain and mouth. Though the only way to explain that in thought a photo (see below)

Today my cousins came over for brunch. They were late so I had to wait an extra hour for food it, made me hangry. They stayed until about 2 then I organised my nail polishes (I have a lot) and cataloged them (weird right). I then painted my nails and watched supernatural with my sister. It was good.

Mar 31: I Love Easter (& other things)

Hello all and welcome to past me,
This is a pre-scheduled post because I am away not camping because my mother "doesn't do camping", but at our beach house for the weekend, weekend being the loose term for 5 nights.
So as you may be aware judging by the number of chocolate eggs and bunnies that are around, it is Easter. *yay! happy dance* Right now I am probably sitting in a great big chair eating piles of chocolate reading a book. I have a great life, it will make me fat but it is great.

Once again it is time for my Things I like-quite-a-bit Post:
Starting it off is that app I am using to keep myself organized - Astrid: It's basically a to do list that I have synced with my iPad, Phone and Laptop to keep myself on track and focused on what I want to do in the day. I have long term list and lists of things that need to be done today and it's a great way for me to stay on top of all the homework that has been set. It has a cute little octopus as it's mascot and it sends me cute messages when I miss calls. It is available on apple products, on Android and on the web.

Another thing I am liking quite a bit is this youtube channel. It is called The Brain Scoop and while I know it won't be everyone's cup of tea, I do recommend it to anyone who like biology, animals, and nerdy things. The host, Emily is a volunteer at the Philip L. Wright Zoological Museum and she takes us though various parts of the museum and there are also some dissections and some Q&A's and other awesome things. She also makes some of the best one-liners I have ever come across. It's funny, it's cute, it's a bit disturbing at some stages and educational but don't get scared by that.
Here's a video:

Also I am quite liking what I've been having for breakfast for the last week, which is hot porridge with a bit of cinnamon, nutmeg and brown sugar to taste, finished off with some dried cranberries. Yummy! There isn't really any specific way to make it, just however you would usually make it and then eat.

I hope you had a Happy Easter and a wonderful Easter Break, for me daylight savings ends on Sunday night (which should be present me's tonight), which is sad but it means that I won't be waking up in them dark for a little bit.

Until next time,
Liana xx

P.S. The new Dr Who comes out tonight (present me)!!! I'm so excited! :D

UPDATE: So I made a mistake. Daylight Savings doesn't end until next week, a little mix up caused by Easter being early.

Mar 27: forgotten photos + OOTD

Oh hey people I haven't talked to for a while,
How are you? (you are not obliged to answer, though I do like comments *hint hint*)

I just realised that I took photos for you over the weekend and I haven't had time to put them into a post yet. (That may have been caused by a classics essay/test/extended response thing, it don't really know what it is)

Subject: Outfit of the day (OOTD)
Date: Sunday
Who: Myself and best friend Erin (who is yet to be mentioned)
For: Brunch (defined as either the meal between breakfast and lunch or as a combination of them both resulting in the need for neither).
We both had half breakfasts, which for me was more than what I normally eat for breakfast, consisting of 1 egg (fried sunny side up), a piece of toast, the best hash brown we have ever tasted, some mushrooms cooked in something, a cooked tomato (+ her's because she doesn't like them) and bacon because you can't have enough bacon (well you probably definitely could). I also had a chai latte and a pot of tea though not at the same time, that would be weird.
Weather: Sort of cold but not cold enough for a jacket but not warm enough for a dress. luke warm? mild? balmy? overcast?

Anyway onto more pressing matters,  I am wearing:
Shear floaty dress that I am wearing as a shift top/tunic (I think it was handmade as there are no tags and I bought it from a little boutique) over dark wash jeans, belted with an old belt found at my aunts house and layered necklaces (I wear these all the time. they will make regular appearances)
Sunglasses I bought a year(?) ago for $20 at some shop, but I love them as they are sort of retro and have a heart in the center.

So... these photos may or may not have been taken in my parents bathroom *shifty eyes*
What? I like the colour of the walls... don't judge me...

Until next time,
(which will probably be after Easter, in which case HAPPY EASTER!!)
